The following materials are recommended for my classes. Please call me with questions. If you already have supplies bring what you have. We will go from there.
Sketchbook: 6 x 8” sketchbook or your choice any size you like
Drawing pencils: 2-B drawing pencil
Hand sharpener : KUM automatic long point hand sharpener
Eraser: MONO white eraser, 1 art gum eraser
Watercolor palette: Robert Woods Palette with a lid (mixing tray lid essential – do not sub)
Brushes: DO NOT SUBSTITUTE BRANDS ON THE BRUSHES –

- #12 round DaVinci Cosmo Top Spin
- # 16 flat – DaVinci Cosmo Top Spin
- # 40 flat wash brush, DaVinci Cosmo Top Spin
Textbook: "Making Color Sing" by Jean Dobie (you can find it used online)
Watercolor paper: 1 sheet 22 x 30- 140# cold press Arches watercolor paper, do not purchase a watercolor block or a pad. Full sheets only. Cut your sheet into quarters. Do not sub.
Watercolor paint: Daniel Smith, Winsor Newton, Graham, are all good choices. Be sure to ask for Artist Grade paint. Please do not purchase STUDENT GRADE.
Suggested Watercolors: Aureolin yellow, Cobalt Blue, Viridian, Green Gold, Ultramarine Turquoise, Sap Green, Thalo Blue Red Shade, Alizarin Crimson Permanent, New Gamboge, Quinacridone Burnt Orange, Quinacridone Pink, Cerulean Blue, Organic Vermillion, Rose Madder Genuine, Winsor Newton Van Dyke Brown. (Winsor Newton) and from Cash and Carry.
Richeson Drawing Clip Board 18 x 18 approximately or your own board (bring what you have.)
Tape: 1 roll Magic Scotch Tape
Paper towels or soft rags,
Paint containers 4 small jars with a tight lid. I suggest a 4 ounce jelly canning jar.
Misting bottle: must be extremely fine mist (reuse an old hair spray bottle)
Container with pointed cap for dispensing water a few drops at a time – I use a mustard dispenser bottle
